Toggling Preselected Product Display Options

When linking directly to a product, staff can choose how the product is displayed when clicked: whether it alone is displayed or whether it is simply preselected with other products visible.

To configure display options for directly linked products:

  1. Navigate to the Web Sites App> Web Sites.
  2. In the left column, locate the desired online store page. It may be necessary to expand a menu option in order to find the desired page.

Note: In the example below, the membership and merchandise online store pages are highlighted. Note that similar pages exist for other product types in the system, including event registration, publication purchases, and more. Depending on the setup of the site, the names of these store pages may have been changed from the default. If you are unsure of the online store page name in your system, contact your site administrator for assistance.

  1. Click the desired store page in the left column.
  2. In Page Settings, click the Page Content tab.
  3. Locate the Purchase Wizard content item and click the edit icon.

  1. In the Edit Content window, locate the Preselected Product Display field. There are three options available:
    • Show all products: This is the default option. When a product is directly linked to, it displays for the user as a preselected product. All other products in this online store display as normal, and the user has the option to choose other products in addition to the directly linked product.
    • Show only preselected product: When this option is selected, products directly linked to in this online store will display by themselves. No other products in the online store are displayed.
    • Do not show selection page (only if no optional related products): When this option is selected, users following a direct link to a product bypass the product selection page, and go directly to the "Review & Submit" step of the purchase process.
      Note that if optional related items are associated with the directly linked product, the selection step of the wizard is not bypassed.
  2. Click Save to preserve any changes.
  3. At the bottom of the Page Settings page > Page Content tab, click the Publish Page button to publish your changes.

Note: To test the direct link settings, staff must follow the steps outlined in the help topic Linking Directly to a Product to create a direct link URL. Clicking the Preview Draft button for this page will not allow staff to test this specific feature.
